What is the mediterranean diet?

The Mediterranean diet is based on the traditional lifestyle and dietary patterns of people near Greece and southern Italy, near the Mediterranean Sea. It consists of eating plenty of vegetables, fruits, nuts and legumes, as well as moderate consumption of olive oil, fish and wine. It’s also low in processed foods and red meat.

Is the Mediterranean Diet proven to help people live longer?

Over 50 years of research studies have shown that people in the Mediterranean region lived longer and healthier lives. Studies have now shown that the Mediterranean diet can help increase life expectancy and decrease risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, dementia and certain forms of cancer.

Headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, Pangea Nutrition was launched by Christos Mantzoros MD, DSc, h.c. mult. PhD and Jason Paruthi, MD. The two doctors wanted to help people live healthier, longer and happier lives by providing evidence-based nutrition and education to help prevent health problems. With decades of combined research and clinical practice, our team of physicians, dietitians and chefs is constantly looking for ways to help people improve their health and wellness.
